The USFS upper management policy is to close many roads.
My dad was a career USFS employee and it drove him crazy that the USFS was closing so many roads.
The land belongs to the people he said, and without roads they can't access the land.
He also hated donation collection that the USFS was doing in many areas. Camping fees are fine but to stop everyone headed up a road to request donations drove him crazy.
Sure there are lots of bad roads that cause erosion, and it cost money to maintain the roads, but he saw USFS management restricting access by closing the roads.
I doubt the road will be repaired. Unless that is money gets allocated specifically for the purpose.
