Hey Cuz,
Waaaay back in the old days (1962 or 63) your big brother and my little brother and Me hiked that grade all the way to the top. From there we went steeply down to Silver Plume by the direct way.We never saw anyone else up there. Our dad's had a vague idea where we were. They were fishing. In this day in age, this could never happen Three kids ages 12 to 15 playing around in the mountains without adult supervision. You were to little then and had to stay home. The next day was Waldorf to Montezuma, but that's a story for another day.
