I'm not sure what that "railroady", used in another thread, means. I'll chime in with my $0.02 to say that the atmosphere in Chama reminds me of Durango back when the D&RGW was still running things (1960's and 1970's) freedom to roam through the yard, etc.
My first visit to Durango after the Grande sold the Silverton the first thing I noticed was That Fence. (2nd was a K-36 steaming by, hadn't seen that since I was a wee nipper). I just put it down to time & liability insurance catching up.
I was frankly amazed in '99 when my daughter and I went to Chama that you *could* wander through the yard at will. Enjoy it while it lasts, it probably won't be forever. One idiot gets hurt and sues and things may well change...
