After the near disaster above Florida, we headed back to Chama to catch up with 484 and 488. Had we had a better crystal ball, we might have chosen to chase the Farmington turn the next day, but we didn't have that perspective on the future of the narrow gauge. But before proceeding to June 3, here are some views from earlier in the morning of June 2, with 488 and 484 making a Cumbres turn.
488 approaching Cresco tank with 484 as rear end helper
After reaching the summit, both engines turned on the wye, with 488 returning to Chama, and 484 with caboose backing to Los Pinos
At Los Pinos 484 picked up the 8 drop bottom gons of cinders set out there the previous day
Work extra 484 then proceeded to spread cinders where needed to help stabilize the road bed. At this point the three of us headed to Gato to catch up with 492 and 498 as related in the above posts.
