Historic photos, moving engines and rolling stock to Antonito Dec. 1970 for transfer to C&TSRR
I grew up in Alamosa 1960s. Came home on Navy leave Christmas 1970 and witnessed D&RGW putting together all the rolling stock and engines for C&TSRR into one long train. A day or two later, the train was moved to Antonito by an SG switcher. I was fortunate to see both operations, took some photos, but lost years ago. Recently, found the negatives!!! Quickly bought a negative scanner. Here's the results of a rank noobie scanning negatives. Only manipulation was skewing the heavy blue tint on the scans. I was 19. Not the best photos, but it is a unique piece of C&TSRR history I hope you enjoy. Been looking for these photos for 50 years. Please let me know if there are other photos of " the move" elsewhere, or if anyone knows the exact date. Seems it was around Dec. 27-28, 1970.
