OK, so maybe it was not train activity, but railcars were in motion on the south end of the RGS yesterday...…….
D&RGW 3688 arrives in Dolores on May 30, 2019. The car was moved from Monte Vista to the Galloping Goose Historical Society in Dolores. This car saw service on the RGS, as evidenced by the "Tomboy" inscription from 1924 inside the car. (Someone who loaded cars at the Tomboy Mine in Telluride around 1924 carved "Tomboy" and the date inside each of the cars that they loaded, neat proof of service on the RGS. 3688"s inscription is dated Jan 4, 1924). It was pretty neat to watch this car pass through Durango for the first time in over 50 years and then head across the Animas towards Mancos.
Several hours later, Rio Grande Southern coach 256 started out from Dolores towards Durango, on its way to a new home...
