Thanks again Scott,
Can you post pictures on completion please. This discussin has peaked my interest as the issue has been on my mind lately.
We had a trial front flange lubricator on the GE D
X back in the late 80's, there were two versions, one mounted the pads at 12 O'clock above the wheelset on the front Bogie, the other version had them suspended at the 3 O'clock position. The 2nd version described had a better success rate with the first allowing oil to reach the wheeltreads especially when parked and hot.
I have the same issue on my Motor which I have partially cured with fitting household sponges shown here with only half of the flange depth getting oil. I'm thinking if the pads were a
Y-shape I could get lubrication onto the rear of the flange at the same time. That would save me having to grease the checkrails at my switches, rainfall does wash the oil and grease away.
