About a month ago I mentioned in another thread that I got a cab ride on the C&TS in 1988 and had taken
some slides of Earl. Russo Loco contacted me and generously offered to scan the slides for me. Well, it
turns out I took print photos and after looking them over I thought they might be of interest to the folks here
at the NGDF. I was surprised at how many pieces of rolling stock I shot have since been restored to working
order. Some shots are a bit fuzzy but I included them if I thought they would be of interest.
Starting out from my home in Southern California I crossed northern Arizona with stops at the Barringer
Meteor Crater and the Petrified forest. On August 1st I rode on the D & S behind #478 which by a strange
coincidence was the same engine I rode behind in 1965 when I was six years old.
In Silverton I found this odd little railbus that was used by the Silverton Northern. I thought looked it looked
like something a model railroader would kitbash. I think it was restored to operating condition some years
after my visit. Is it still running in 2019?
