Thanks for the note, you say this well.
I'll point out, however, that as a not-for-profit, it's entirely reasonable to charge higher rates to maintain your mission and to build up a financial reserve to 'insulate' the mission of the Society from financial issues such as this. Your stance that the demonstration of the historic artifact is a very admirable one from a sense of mission, but I certainly would never fault a not-for-profit for building a significant financial reserve that was dedicated to their preservation mission.
