Well, I USED to have a steady hand. Having not done any of that in nearly 30 years, I wonder how well it would look. Before he left for the Grand Canyon in 1989, Russ Fischer was my partner in lettering. He would start at one end of a tender and I would start at the other. Being left handed it was much easier for me to letter from left to right, We'd meet in the middle of "TOLTEC".
Heralds took the most time as we had to wait for the blue and red backgrounds to dry before applying the white lettering.
BTW the 19 was lettered with the steam locomotive lettering. the same stuff went on the tenders and cabs of the other locomotives. It saved me from having to cut new stencils for the hood lettering.
