Looking on some inflation calculators, that translate to about $46.90! That would be a real deal today! I’d imagine though, back then the D&RGW was not hammered with the costs that come today with aging equipment (The K-28’s were only 45 years old versus the 96 year machines they are now). I would also think some of the costs associated with the narrow gauge tourist opperation could have also been shared with the standard gauge somehow.
