And it's amazing how photos keep turning up that add another bit of detail to an existing story. OTOH, in some cases no amount of Photoshop improvement can compensate for a mediocre lens "enhanced" by cinders in the camera scratching the film. Nonetheless, since it's the same train, here's #497 arriving in Chama late in the afternoon on 08/28/67

By some odd coincidence, you and I were both in Chama that afternoon but SFAICR we did not meet — even though we probably both dined at Kelly's Café that evening at about the same time as the train crew. #497 did some switching in the Chama yard the following morning before helping #493 take the eastbound train up the hill, while #498 hauled the westbound train on to Durango (see [
