The mine closed in the mid-1980's, and once the perlite plant started trucking to Globe for transload, the MARR shut down. A new mining company, Resolution Copper, had purchased the Magma Mine and began exploratory working some years ago. Resolution plans a new concentrator mill in Superior and will either pipe line the concentrate to a rail trans load near Magma Jct or will simply load the copper concentrate in Superior. Resolution has not seemed to make up its mind yet. The rumor around the CBRY was that Resolution was going to start needing rail service in late 2019. They have rebuilt the wye at Magma Jct. and have begun brush clearing east out of Magma. As of the last time I crossed the MARR near Florence Jct (which was on my way home after my last day working way back on December 31, 2018, they had not cleared the track that far.
