Earl and Magma Arizona 7 (NNG)

January 04, 2019 08:37PM
Reading Earl's retirement posting, I was surprised to learn that he was a major contributor to restoring Magma Arizona 7, one of my favorite standard gauge engines. In the mid-1960s when the narrow gauge was shut down for the winter, the Magma Arizona was a reachable target from New Mexico State (Las Cruces). While the operating engines 2-8-0 5 and 2-8-2 7 were of course not narrow gauge, the railroad had originally been built as narrow gauge, and so it has some tenuous connection to this forum.
