Let me also add my thanks. Back in 1988 I was visiting the C&TS and ran into Earl. He recognized
me (we had worked at Roaring Camp but in different departments back in '79) and he got me a cab ride
up Cumbres pass. It probably just another day at the office for Earl but it was a ride that I will never forget.
I have photos of the trip but unfortunately they are in the form of slides and I have no way of scanning them.
I used to keep a notebook of my train trips and after digging it out of the desk drawer I find that the
trip was on 8/3/88 with #489. Rode from Chama to Cumbres in the cab, Cumbres to Osier in the train,
and the rest of the way in the cab of #489 again.
