Railfan Tour to Colombia, September 2019

Hello, All -

I have just received an e-mail from Steve Cossey in Durango, whom I met last month when he visited my good friend and former next-door neighbor.  IIRC, it was Steve who escorted some of the D&S folks when they visited South America a few months ago to evaluate some diseasels for possible purchase by the railroad.  Steve is currently helping to arrange a rail and cultural tour to Colombia in September, 2019, for which he will be a co-leader.  The tour is being organized by PTG tours in the UK; trip details can be found at [www.ptg.co.uk]

NOTE: The deposit for the trip is 100 pounds equivalent, and not the 750 pounds shown in the website text.

Steve hopes to get 15-20 people signed up so the trip can be run.

"PTG ran a similar trip in 2017 and it was the first time a railtour had been run in Colombia for about 30 years.  We are excited to have it on the program again for 2019."

Steve is also writing a book with Bob Whetham entitled "Colombia Railways: Past and Present", and will notify us when it is available online.  It will include about 100 of Bob's unpublished black & white photos from the early 1960s in Colombia and some of his own more recent pictures.
