I have a soft spot for TBMs as this was the first “type” of warbird I ever flew in. I rode in the navigators seat with an operation parachute seat. I was given instructions on its use, including to be sure I had “jumped clear before pulling my ripcord”.

As I recall, the future president was shot down in enemy territory and he lost his crew. It was a dramatic story.

Interesting that UP went to these lengths. I remember the heritage units and the 4141. I am surprised these were not repainted to a standard sceme.
