Not
all C&TS passengers end up in the same state they boarded in. While the individual tickets sold on the website all return to the originating state (assuming one counts the C&TS bus ride), the C&TS is also happy to accommodate Tour Groups. Typically, a tour group would arrive in Chama or Antonito on their own bus, and that same bus would pick up the Group Tour passengers when they get off the train. So, for instance, Group Tour passengers that board the train in Chama (NM) may end up getting transported [one way] to Antonito in Colorado.

Note that the recent Historic Rail Conference (group tour) passengers arrived in Chama on their own buses, rode the railroad to only Cumbres Pass, which is in Colorado. At Cumbres, they boarded the buses that had brought them to Chama from Santa Fe and continued on.
