The past few days, I've had some questions regarding the Mears shortlines out of Silverton that, apparently, don't seem easy to answer. None of my resources, particularly
The Rainbow Route, appear to have the answers.
What infrastructure, if any, existed to service the locomotives outside of Silverton? Would it have even been necessary? Did the SRR have water columns along the route? I've hiked and explored most of all the ROWs, and in retrospect can't recall any servicing locations. The lines were short, yes, but still...nada?
