That's what I was thinking, but had read somewhere that it was best to have the eccentrics on the main driver to minimize any "slop" in linkage ... meaning that if the side rods were worn a bit, it wouldn't get out of time.

Just asking, and being that #4 went to scrap close to a lifetime ago, we will likely never know smiling smiley
