Great image. 1963 was rather late in the game, wasn't that the last winter they ran. I wonder if we have already researched when the last snow clearing train was run over the pass. Would be interesting to figure out who took the picture and how. I was there in December 1961 when they ran a flanger spreader train, but there was no way you could follow it on the road with a four foot wall of snow where the plowing ended on Terrace Avenue and the old road over La Manga pass closed. If I remember correctly early 1962 was the last time DRGW ran a rotary over Cumbres. In the spirit of the title line, here is what the lead engine looked like in Chama after its trip over Cumbres in 1961.
