Hi folks,
Not a narrow gauge post, but I feel obligated to participate in such a great forum anyways.
I took another trip to my local steam railroad, the SRC, this past Wednesday and took some pictures like I always do. Hope you enjoy them! Fall and steam also go hand in hand in my book. Be sure to look for another post in this same thread in the coming week or so regarding Reading & Northern #425 running from the Outer Station in Reading, PA to Jim Thorpe, PA.
A quiet morning in the enginehouse allows for some observing of various motive power. (Enginehouse panorama created out of about 6 vertical images.)
The assigned fireman at the SRC is usually also assigned the hostling job unless a separate hostler is assigned instead. Today's designated person: Ross Gochenaur. Here, Ross is filling up the reservoirs feeding the air side of the air compressor with air oil.
Every time I've been at the SRC I've noticed this closet but I've never seen it open. I liked the ambiance of the single light lighting the various parts which are outlied against the wall of the closet and even have their assigned engine written too.
"Meeting of the Minds": (From left to right) Ross Gochenaur, Dave Lotfi, and Erich Armpriester discuss some minor mechanical issues with #475 prior to the days work. I think the saying is: "Steam engines tend to tear themselves apart going down the road, so there's always something to fix".
Ross gets the air pump warmed up...
