This was the last time the passenger equipment was deadheaded from Alamosa to Durango. The passenger equipment spent the winter in Alamosa for shopping. All of the cars were in Alamosa from use on charter excursions the previous fall, the final excursion being run in Oct., 1966. In January, 1967 it was officially announced there would be no more passenger operations between Alamosa and Durango. With the exception of the few cars used in the movie work in the fall of 1968, the NPS special in Nov, 1968 and the final train in Dec., 1968, none of the passenger cars were never to run east of Durango again.
