As soon as track upgrades were completed (Fall of '25 North of Rico, Jan. of '28 for the South end) the C-19's were mostly replaced by K-27's in RGS service. In December of '25 452, 456, 463 & 464 were all in use on the RGS. 11/30/29 RGS was using 454, 455, 457, 458, 460 & 463.[ "The Mudhens" by Dennis O'Berry, pgs 16-17}
One of the first things the Victor Miller receivership did was put all the RGS engines, except for the C-16's, back into service and quit leasing D&RGW engines. Throughout the rest of the Miller years policy seems to have been to rely on these RGS engines (20, 22, 25, 40, 41, 42) and only rent engines when traffic was high(er). This began to change after Mr Miller left in late1938.
