Henry was one of the people I met on the first day I visited the Sierra Railroad's Rail Town 1897 in May 1972. He worked for Great Western Tours at the time, which ran the operation for the Sierra during the 1971 and 1972 seasons, and was their onsite manager. His passion for everything railroad-related, dedication to the mission Pacific Locomotive Association, proficiency at organizing excursions and trips, and willingness to help people made him a legend among those who knew him. He assisted me on several book projects and made them better through his contributions. Few people made as big a contribution to the railroad preservation movement in California as Henry. He will be missed.
