Director Burt Kennedy wrote a very entertaining book

With “The Good Guys and The Bad Guys”.
He talked about a Rio Grande officer from Denver
(no name) who was openly hostile. At one point
The man was offered introductions to the various
Actors and replied to Mr. Kennedy “I don’t like
Hollywood people” and then walked off.
I’ve often speculated that the railroader was possibly
John Norwood. The railroad had been refusing film
Offers for years and David Cargo flew to Denver
To insure that the railroad would deal with both Warner
Brothers and 20th Century Fox.
Kennedy also mentioned how much time it
Took the train to reach locations. He and his editor
Set up an editing room in the baggage car and worked
On the rushes from the previous days.
