Hi, Everybody -
Sorry for the long delay, but a frozen computer (probably a virus) on the 29th and not one but two very late planes from Denver to Burbank via Salt Lake City left me too exhausted yesterday to continue the saga on the fiftieth anniversary dates of fifty years ago. Since it's too late to head for Farmington on August 31, I'll go back to the last REAL freights from Chama to Alamosa and Durango on August 29, 1968. Ernie Robart took this fine photo of the three hot engines in Chama that morning

Ernie and I both chased #483 for a few miles as she pulled out of town with the last revenue loads westbound for Farmington via Durango

As you can see, his photos are sharper than mine

. . . So three out of five of these are his. It should be four out of five, but I feel compelled to add this one showing yesterday's mid-train brakeman now riding the back platform of the caboose

And then Ernie got this nice shot of the two carloads of wallboard heading west

After these shots we headed back to Chama to chase the last eastbound two-engine freight up the hill.
(To be continued.)
