Re: It's amazing

One of my other passions is hot water & steam heating. A very helpful site is www.heatinghelp.com which was started by Dan Holohan. He fostered a site with a helpful atmosphere, great insight, and a bit of humor. The following link is to a T-Shirt that site sells with a saying I'll quote and explain below. [teespring.com]

"A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work, and marvel at my skills, but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me."

I think of this quote often, because we follow and/or get our hands dirty preserving historically significant materials and sites. The people who built these things we love are long gone, as are most of the folks who maintained & ran them. In the future, we too will be no more, but these railroad artifacts will, hopefully, still be around for future generations to enjoy, learn from, and maintain.

I hope that I can have a positive, but likely nameless, impact.
