I am sad to report that veteran railroad photographer Jim Shaughnessy passed away yesterday, he was 84. He was one of the last great photographers that captured the end of steam era 60+ years ago. I have admired his photographs for years and always wanted to match the quality of his work. I can't say much more of Jim that hasn't been written, never met him but his work spoke volumes of his skill as a lensman. Here's one of my favorite photos to remember Jim by.
The image is of B&M 3713 running out it's last miles in 1957.
