With all the talk about converting an engine to oil and diesels, I had a crazy thought today. In the last year or so, the Carson and Colorado group that restored the SPNG 18 started to tentatively solicit donations to help ship the 18 to Colorado for an event on either the C&T or D&S (I can't recall which one it was). So, in my insanity, I started to wonder if the D&S had considered reaching out to the C&C group about using the 18. I am not sure how well suited it would be. It did run over Montgomery Pass, so it is not a stranger to mountain railroading. Any thoughts?
