I presume the curved line east of the fire and west of I-5 (passing just to the left of the 'R' in 'River') is the r.o.w. of the (former) S.P.'s Shasta Division and the huge curved bridge over the Sacramento River that was built in the late 40's when construction of Shasta Dam and its reservoir forced relocation of the railroad
. . . Somewhere in my archives I have a photo of #4449 and the 1981 "Railfair Daylight" from Portland to Sacramento crossing that bridge, but it hasn't been scanned, so the 1975 photo of the AFT crossing the Dog Creek bridge a mile or two north of the relocation – and possibly within range of the current fire, depending on how the wind blows – will have to do for now.
