I remember walking through the snap piles behind the shop and seeing the remains of many old passenger car trucks. It was almost a museum of passenger car truck evolution, with all kinds of older designs I had never seen, ranging from wood beam to fabricated metal to cast parts with lots of variations, probably many of which were "home cooked". I would guess a lot of these old trucks came from the oldest cars like the ones being scrapped, being replaced by newer trucks. Potentially the trucks are the most valuable part of the car, from an operational standpoint.
