I prefer steam to diesel, but narrow gauge diesels are rare enough in North America to be interesting in their own right. The 1203 was probably a big expense for the D&S to obtain.

Given the current conditions, I would imagine Al Harper would like to recover some of that expense in the form of an operating 1203.
