I have deleted a thread which contained copyrighted material from a letter to the Editor of the Durango Herald.
For the last several years, due to changes in liability due to unauthorized use of copyrighted material in internet forums such as this one, we have been careful not to overstep our lines and have discouraged such to everyone participating here, although it very rarely comes up.
The 416 fire is certain to be a devisive and controversial topic, especially when it crosses over to taking political sides. As everyone knows, these are particularly sensitive times.
The NGDF is not opposed to debate, within reason, but please don't get carried away, and refrain from posting content copied from other sources.
Above all, give this a chance to play out before losing our cool. Up to now things have been handled very well here. And with the exception of the content of the first post, that's still true. I'm sure this wasn't done as an intentional breach of policy, but we just need to keep this in mind going forward. Obviously, this hasn't been a real problem in a long time, and we have a lot of new users who may not be aware.
If you feel a need to reference a topic from another site, you may provide a link, but let's try to keep things on the rails. Now back to regular programming...
Thanks,
Mike Trent, Dinosaur Moderator
