The thing that I find interesting about that article is that nothing in the photos is burned. Lots of healthy plants along the tracks. So where exactly did the fire start? Research done back in the steam era showed that 50' from the center of the track was the absolute limit that an "incandescent spark capable of lighting a fire" could travel from a locomotive stack (and that isn't counting the barricade of the screens D&S uses), with the vast majority landing much closer than that.
