When I worked as a brakie on the D&S I busted several people for smoking in the toilets. I'd be checking out the train around a curve and see a wisp of smoke coming out of a restroom window. I'd make a beeline for the car and be standing outside the door when the bozo opened the door. I'd ask them (I had male and female offenders) if they would like to be put off the train right here or at the next water stop. We'd prefer to set you out at the next stop, but if you insist, we can stop right here in the middle of nowhere...... Their eyes would get real big. Then I'd launch into a speech about violating federal law (like the airlines do) and basically scare the wadding out of them. By then they were usually apologizing all over themselves. I'd finish with saying "You're lucky I caught you, not the conductor. He is a REAL SOB. He put 3 smokers off the train last week......"
