Wayne, some years back they put in a wye out there for these small trips to be easy to operate. They are used for a lot of kids related events where they can do short runs, and more of them.
It allows them to turn the engines, and because they are short they do not conflict so much with the regular runs. I guess if thats all they could do its better to see a K-28 or K-36 running 5 miles than nothing, or a diesel. I think we are jumping the gun speculating at this stage. I am sure they will come up with a viable solution.
What bothers me is that there is always a scenario where someone has to find a scapegoat, or someone to blame for everything. Hey, things just happen sometimes, and its not the fault of anyone!!! If a campfire starts a blaze like this they say so, but nobody gets called on the carpet for it. Some of the comments on social media are simply ignorant people who think the railroad has an unlimited budget. One person suggested they should continue to pay employees. People don't use common sense any more! I know I'm sounding old again!!!
Cheers,
Greg
PS Anyone heard from Jerry? I think I saw one or more of his photos of the slurry tanker on NBC news tonight. Great shot, but hope he and others are getting out while they can.
