Thats nothing. Friday I was shooting video of a group of 7 AT-6 WW2-era planes and there was a storm on the horizon.
I had two cameras set-up, cause one was kinda new and I wanted to try it. Before the planes took-off there was lightning in the dark clouds.
After they took off and flew around a few times, it really got gusty, so I decided the newest camera was not safe, on the smallest tripod I had.
I went over to it, and released it from the tripod and walked the 30-40 feet back to my vehicle which had the camera bags waiting in the rear. As I reached the
vehicle, I heard a crash after another gust. I also had a 30-40 pound heavy steel outdoor chair I dragged up there to sit on. The chair and my number one camera
were blown over. This was on a 16 pound tripod. It powered up and I kept shooting, but only when I inspected the tape later did I realize it was cutting out (losing video)
between the shots....in other words freezing where you don't want it to.
So the camera is today headed to a repair place in California. I bought it in 2014 before heading the NG country. The back-up(Same model) was not fully tested and I have some reservations about it, so I sent it too to be checked out. Once before I had a camera with a bad lens, and I fear this is the case here. To make it a triple header I also included my old
mini-dv camera from 2001 which doesn't play correctly and I had it shelved. I used it to capture all the vintage film material that gets transferred to video.
Next time you have trouble with wind just think of old Greg's camera and tripod getting blown over!!!!

PS All that effort for 12-13 minutes of useable video!!! And folks wonder why we don't charge less for the final products!!!!!
