Tell Ernie I enjoyed the images as well. Glad he was able to live close enough to get this stuff the last couple of years. Also thanks Russ for all the work in scanning and posting. Looks like you did a nice job with them. Oh, I really enjoyed the shot from above the lower loop showing the other switch as well in the top of this batch of photos. Really see the perspective of the grades and the plateau the tracks are on as they climb westward toward Big Horn, etc. Guess if you want to reproduce this you have to go to Durango today, except it would not be Lava or the tracks to Alamosa. Its just too bad Alamosa isn't at Antonito, then perhaps the C&TS would have gotten the infrastructure of the buildings and such that were later torn down.
Oh well, something is surely better than nothing, and to have 100 miles or so of former NG is something to be thankful for!
