Making the headlamps has been an interesting exercise. I made three; two for the roundhouse and one for the rear of #4’s tender. All use LEDs. The roundhouse version is powered by 110VAC and produces 6,000 lumens. The tender model is powered by a car battery and produces 2,000 lumens. The other major deviation from the originals is that I did welding instead of soldering to join the pieces. There will be an article in a future The Bogies and the Loop describing many of the details. I have just finished metal etching and priming the three lamps. I should have them in Como in the beginning of June but how to mount them is still a TBD. I might also mention that using the headlamp on DL&G #191 at the CRRM, I built a software solid model and produced engineering drawings for most of the parts.
