Jim, the immediate and obvious giveaway to me was the C&TS logo on the gon and the chains. The DRGW did use smoke arrestors at times, but the pics I have seen show them as being a bit flater, and I believe the time frame was in the 1930's, I did not see them on the 480's or 490's on my many visits in the 60's. I seem to remember there was one caboose running around in the 60's that did not have the flying Rio Grande, but I am too lazy to search my pix for a number. I think the DRGW put some kind of "bladder" into the wood tank reducing its capacity, but that is a very vague memory. Earl or others can probably provide more detail and/or corrections to my old and failing memory.
