South Africa had Guardsvans on the rear of the train. Interestingly these were somewhat like a combine in that you could buy a ticket to ride one on a freight train. Back in the early 70's my brother rode in one from De Aar to Kimberly on the former double track line, and shot some movies meeting train after train of 4-8-4's including Condensors and Non Condensing 25NC's.
Also the term Banker refers to pusher engines on the rear. Token referred to the staff system handed to crews, and thrown off at stations. Loop was a siding to access a station for a passenger stop.
Now German can get you confused even more. All that matters in the 70's was the translation for steam----DAMPF!!! I recently had my old films of Europe transferred to video.
