Thank you to everyone who helped during the WW&F Spring work weekend this past weekend.
On Friday a crew of 22 built 310' of track that was torn up the previous weekend. Shop and carpentry crews were busy moving machines around, and building new stairs for the house, as well as working on boxcar 67. A kitchen crew was also on hand to feed our hungry volunteers some really great food.
Saturday we had around 40 people on track crew to help ballast 650' of track, change out 63 ties, and surface and tamp 150' of track. (Our crews were extremely busy as we had 3 seperate track crews working a stretch of track that was about 1100' long, and two trains using the main line to shuttle stone.) Back at sheepscott volunteers continued with moving shop machines, working on boxcar 67, the stairs for the house, and the kitchen crew served more great food for lunch and dinner.
Sunday saw more surfacing and tamping on the track, more ties were changed out, and the Sheepscott crews continued on machine moving, stairs for the house, and the kitchen crew provided volunteers with lunch.
All in all it was a fantastic weekend, and we hope to see everyone again this fall during Columbus day weekend, as we will build 1200' + of track down the mountain. By Columbus Day of 2019, we will be at Trout Brook, which is around a half mile from our current end of track.
Thank you again to our hard working and dedicated volunteers.
