Only when the wick in the firebox gives out. I have a little Thomas story. Many years ago I was a reporter for BBC Radio Oxford, a local radio station here in the UK and given the role of 'rover' which meant that I could choose what stories I wanted to cover. I learnt that the author of the Thomas the Tank Engine stories, the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, lived just over the county border in Stroud in the Cotswolds. He rarely gave interviews but agreed to speak to me. I recorded about an hour with him, what a wonderful gentleman. He lived in a very modest house with his sister and donated all the profits to his church, the Church of England. I wish still had that tape now. The recording took place on January 15th though I cannot remember what year. But it coincided with my son's birthday and he wrote a message in one of his books to give to my son.
What a superb legacy that gentleman left for our younger people.
