Hello all,
I have just bought, on Ebay, an unstarted MDC Roundhouse HOn3 outside-framed 2-8-0 kit. Reading through my copy of Malcolm Furlow's
Model Railroader guide to building his
San Juan Central layout (what became of this ultimately, as it was very well built?), he mentions that he used kits made by Patco to lower the boilers on his 2 MDC 2-8-0s. What were these kits, as I assume that they are no longer available, and how were the boilers lowered using them? My kit has both the NW Short Line re-gearing set and a replacement can motor included, is the latter significant to lowering the boiler?
Cheers,
Chris
