After seeing that neat operation through the camera of John West,

I thought you may like to see how some decent log trains are run down here. smiling smiley NZR liked to show off the Murupara Branch on the cover of handouts.

A longer look at a dedicated Branchline from the central North Island forests, the Murupara Branch purpose built in 1955 and run with diesels from the outset. This line has always had our heaviest trains starting at 1650 tons and increased to around 2650 tons in the 80's.
