Kevin, with regard to James' video specifically, the colors were in general subdued, sometimes the lighting was less than ideal, and his framing very "traditional" with some wide shots that had a bit of "junk" in them. I think the way he incorporated the fairly authentic looking consist helped. But it is clearly a very subjective call on my part. There is clearly a lot more to your question, but the longer answer would take more a group discussion since I only have a few opinions and no real answers.
