Well, in this case we got the coupler, draft gear, bolster AND TRUCK in one mighty yank. They managed to do it in the yard too. Facing north toward the depot. So, it was not like we were trying to get a heavy train started out of town. It takes real talent to do that.

It was not uncommon to pull high side gons converted to flats in two east of Durango. The roller coaster profile made for some serious in-train forces, especially with westbound trains with loaded pipe gons sandwiched in between not-so-solid idler flats. Oxford was a bad spot for pull-in-twos.
