the last car is a restored 50ft'er Guardsvan, more often found on the rear of Goods Trains prior to two-manning in 1986-'87. You may have noticed the old oil-lamps used on the rear, two Sidelamps and one Taillamp, a nice touch for guys like me who span back into that era.
This Van was probably along for the excursion to carry the baggage since it was a comprehensive tour. We did have Carvans that were the equivalent of your Combines, those were also used on Mixed trains.

the flatwagon was used as a Runner since the older classes of Steam power had longer cowcatchers and fouled the Diesels stepboard type of cowcatcher, as in this picture leaving Woodville in the great old days.
