I was looking at different videos of shay locomotives and came across the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan. 30 inch with at one time multiple/20 shays. What I really noticed was that the bevel gears for the line shaft were on the left side (rear) rim gears mounted on the wheels, unlike nearly all the "standard" Shays I have seen. Was this a choice by Lima, the purchaser or did this change occur during a re-shop. How would this affect the Johnson bar, and did the eccentrics need to be reversed.?
